Procido LLP is very excited to announce the formation and launch of the Intellectual Property and Technology Group (the “IPT Group“). The Procido LLP IPT Group boasts veteran talent of Craig Zawada, K.C. and Rob Hendry, who have been advising clients in this field for more than 40 and 20 years, respectively. Their knowledge and experience bring depth to the advice that the firm can provide together with Avneet Nehel who has practiced intellectual property law in India for 10 years.

To facilitate the launch of the IPT Group and better serve the firm’s growing list of large Canadian corporates and multinational clients, Procido LLP has invested in, and has implemented, powerful industry-leading software and technology to manage global IP portfolios of large Canadian corporates and multinational corporations and centralize administration in the sophisticated but lower-cost center and jurisdiction of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Craig Zawada’s legal career spans nearly 40 years, advising clients in a variety of industries, with a particular focus on corporate governance, commercial law, intellectual property, technology law, IT design and support, computer security, and electronic document management. Craig also delivers many continuing professional development resources for the Law Society of Saskatchewan, including a weekly video series, Bite Size CPD, highlighting practice management, technology, resilience and other topics important to lawyers.

Rob Hendry is an intellectual property lawyer, Canadian and U.S. patent agent, and Canadian trademark agent, with a focus on patent prosecution, large portfolio management, technology related due diligence, strategic advising, and technology commercialization. Rob is recognized as a “Leading Lawyer for his work in Intellectual Property” by the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory 2023.

Avneet Nehel will be called to the Saskatchewan Bar in July 2023. She is not new to intellectual property, having worked in India for 10 years in private practice before moving in-house as IP Head for the mega entertainment company Zee. She was awarded the best employee award for bringing the value of company brands to new heights and enhancing “Zee” as a well-known mark in India. Avneet is training to be a registered trademark agent in Canada, but already has experience handling large global trademark and copyright portfolios for clients ranging from Fast-Moving Consumer Goods, entertainment and news media, electronics, fast foods and oil and gas. She has experience advising clients globally for commercializing their IP and IP enforcement with due diligence and market research. She is also knowledgeable about technology contracts, franchising agreements, privacy contracts and privacy policy integration, IP transactions and licensing, among other things.

The IPT Group provides much needed local support to individuals and companies in Saskatchewan while supporting clients in Alberta, Ontario, across Canada, Europe and abroad. The Procido LLP IPT Group is well equipped to advise on varied topics ranging from patents, trademarks, copyrights, technology, privacy, cyber security and marketing. Don’t hesitate to contact the IPT Group to get advice before you introduce your technology to the world. We are happy to help guide you on growing your technology, while protecting and enforcing it.
